Qigong

I teach medically and spiritually based qigong styles called Han Shan Taoist Qigong and 18 Buddha Hands qigong.

Qi (pronounced chee) is the Chinese word for “life energy”. Gong (pronounced gung like lung) means “work”. So together Qigong is the practice of working the life energy or life force. It is the skill of cultivating vital energy. Imbalances in our life force occur throughout a lifetime from poor diet, unhealthy life choices, excess stress and anxiety, poor environmental circumstances, injuries and emotional challenges.

Qigong much like yoga is a practice of moving, breathing and meditating to cleanse, strengthen and circulate our life energy (qi). The practice supports our overall wellbeing by removing the impure or unhealthy qi and accumulating more vibrant healthy qi. It originated from China and is documented to be between 2500 and 5000 years old.

 What is Qi?

Qi is the animating substance that underlies all of the manifest world. Basically, it is the life force that flows through all living things. Another name for it is Prana.

Qi is both source and the potential. Think of a small seed that becomes a fully grown tree…the qi is in both.

It is the innate intelligence that can’t be seen with the naked eye.

Currently, I teach 2 forms of qigong. 18 Buddha Hands qigong and Hua Shan Taoist qigong. They both work to mobilize and strengthen the reservoirs of qi inside our bodies maintaining balance and harmony.
